Brief
The brief was to create a product that enhances the workspace experience, particularly for study and office environments. Beyond serving a practical purpose, the organiser was designed to introduce a tactile and sensory element to the desk.
Wood was selected as the primary material, complemented by materials such as metal, textile, glass, and ceramic to add variation, functionality, and character to the product.
Inspired by the traditional Indian game Pachisi (now commonly known as Ludo), CrossStack explores how familiar play can be translated into a functional desk organiser. The project aims to bring interaction, nostalgia, and playfulness into everyday office routines.
Pachisi
The ancient Indian board game Pachisi represents social interaction, strategy, and chance. Historically enjoyed across different social classes, including Mughal royalty, the game takes its name from pachis, meaning twenty-five, and was traditionally played with cowrie shells on a cross-shaped board. Beyond entertainment, Pachisi reflects values of skill, luck, strategy, and collective play.

Refined Design Brief
By bringing game-inspired elements into the workspace, the design transforms everyday desk organisation into a more interactive experience. Drawing from the familiarity of traditional board games, the product encourages moments of play, collaboration, and creativity while making routine work feel more engaging and enjoyable.
